I arrived home from Offshore to an old cell phone and a company #1 pay-as-you-go account. After a month on pay-as-you-go while scouting my options, I decided that the best plan for me was to switch to company #2. It was a hard decision because I like some of the perks that come with #1, but #2 was going to be more cost effective and possibly less of a hassle in the long run.

Mattress…?
A very important question for anyone who lives in, or near, Victoria:
Do you, or know anyone who might, have a bed or mattress that needs to be “stored” for a year in my bedroom?!? I don’t have a bed and I’m moving back to Victoria in a couple weeks. I really don’t want to buy something if I don’t have to, but equally don’t want to sleep on my thermarest for a year! Thought I’d put it out there before I go ahead with any more drastic plans, like buying something.
Great article by Andrew Potter on one of the biggest issues facing the Beijing Olympics.
Shanty Rap
What else do we do on the boat when we’re bored? We create new genres of music… on leg 7, Shanty Rap came into its own with “Edification Nation.” Thanks Christina for the video, and thanks Blake, Elske, and Antony for the memorable performance.
Laziness
I’m much too busy being completely lazy right now to do more than this. I did attempt to load some Quebec photos the other day, but the Internet died before I was done. I’m back in Vancouver and hanging out and having fun. Saw Cirque du Soleil with Dad and Colleen the other night, which was Amazing. Spent the last two days lounging by the side of a pool in the hot sunshine with fellow SALTS crew members, enjoying the break between trips. I’ll be moving back to Victoria in about 3 weeks, so an address update will come out then.
Le week-end
I’m off to Quebec City for the weekend. Good times will be had, fun things will be done. The only updates I’ll be doing are via phone – check the right side column.
All of my favourite photos from Offshore are now uploaded. Enjoy.
Over the Next Year
I am officially registered for 2 classes at UVic starting in January. I guess that means I’ll be based in Victoria for the next year! I work for SALTS until the end of October, then it will be a job for me until classes begin, and hopefully I can keep it part time when I’m studying. Victoria friends, I’m back!
In case you hadn’t clued in, I’ve been playing with my layout – I was getting tired of the old one (it was a couple years old…), so we’ll see how this one goes! So far, I like the increased colour.
